The Yass and District Beekeepers Club in conjunction with The Naked Beekeeper and Nemori Honey Bees, present – Introduction to Beekeeping.

The objective of this 1 day course, c is to provide a basic theory and practical based introduction to the world of amateur beekeeping.

Using the supplied Bee AGSKILLS textbook, participants will be guided through the course materials with an emphasis on gaining the necessary knowledge and practical skills to start beekeeping.

• Explanation of various hive types

• Regulatory requirements and responsible beekeeping practices

• Demonstration of hive components

• Starting your first hive

• Hive work and management

• Overview of honey bee pests and diseases

• Joining your local club

• 2 hour practical component at the club apiary (weather dependent).
