Better Beekeeping Through Knowledge

Yass and District Beekeepers Club (Yass Beekeepers) was established in 2016 and has quickly grown to around 80 members with a range of beekeeping experience.

Yass Beekeepers aims to meet once a month, either at the Club’s apiary for a field day, or at another venue depending on the weather and the topic for discussion.

Yass Beekeepers has a dedicated apiary which was formally opened by fellow beekeeper, the then Governor of NSW, the Hon David Hurley. We currently have the following hive types at the apiary to offer members experience with a range of hives:

  • Standard Langstroth

  • Flow Hive

  • Paradise Hive

  • Warre Hive

  • Kenyan Top Bar

During the colder months when we can’t open the hives for inspection, we hold discussions and construction days where members assist in preparing hiveware for the coming season – assembling and wiring frames, repairing equipment etc.

We also run educational courses throughout Spring and Summer aimed at beginner beekeeping information to more advanced beekeeping techniques.
